English, Maths & Essential Digital Skills

Our free Functional Skills English, Maths and Essential Digital Skills courses are flexible and designed to fit around your busy life.

They are offered from entry level through to Level 2, an Initial Assessment is carried out to ascertain starting points and the most suitable course.

Our courses are

  • Online, to take part in an online course you will need:
    • an email account
    • a reliable internet connection
    • access to a laptop, computer or tablet
    • to be able to join Zoom sessions and access online resources
  • Blended learning
    • where you will have a mixture of face to face and Zoom lessons and your teacher will support you throughout the course
  • Face to face classes at Arndale House

We can also arrange bespoke courses within organisations to suit your needs.

If you are interested in GCSE English or Maths, we offer a pre-GCSE in June/July to prepare for a September enrolment. You will be asked to complete a GCSE initial assessment before you start to make sure the course is right for you.

ESOL Adults

Our courses have been designed and developed for people who live and work in the UK or have recently moved to the UK from another country. You will be able to improve your English to communicate at home, in the community, at school, or at work.

We offer a range of courses at different levels that will help you develop basic language skills for daily day to day communication, progress at work or progress on to further study. Our ESOL classes will help you become confident in speaking & listening, reading and writing skills.

You will be interviewed to ensure we understand your starting points and place you on the correct course.

Business Administration

The qualifications can be delivered as part of an apprenticeship or stand alone. There are certain units that are assessed by a multiple choice online examination with the rest being assessed in the workplace.

  • Level 2 will help you gain practical know how in providing routine and more complex administrative support
  • At Level 3 you can build on your achievements to gain greater technical and managerial skills, as well as supervising others and contributing to the wider strategy of your organisation or department.
