Find out more and have your say on Century Park proposals
13th March, 2017
London Luton Airport Ltd (LLAL), working in partnership with its shareholder Luton Borough Council, has previously announced it is to submit a planning application in the summer for 70 acres of commercial development east of London Luton Airport, facilitated by a new 1.6-mile access road.
Members of the public are warmly invited to attend the events and input into the development process before the planning application is submitted for consideration.
Three public exhibitions will take place as follows:
- Wednesday 22 March, 5-9pm, Wigmore Primary School, Twyford Drive, Luton LU2 9TB
- Saturday 25 March, 10am-2pm, St George’s Square (near The Mall entrance), Luton
- Wednesday 29 March, 5-9pm, Ramridge Primary School, Turners Road North, Luton LU2 9AH
Century Park is part of the new London Luton Airport Enterprise Zone, supported by SEMLEP, which will deliver up to 7,200 new jobs and inward investment to support economic growth across the sub-region.
The application will also include investment in improved facilities in the northern section of Wigmore Valley Park, to include:
- new play area
- refurbished Wigmore Pavilion
- new, larger area of replacement public open space
Cllr Andy Malcolm, chair of LLAL, said: “Century Park is the latest exciting development in the continuing delivery of the Luton Investment Framework which will help attract much-needed new jobs and improve life opportunities for local people. Already we are well on track to bring investment exceeding £1.5bn into the borough over 20 years.
“These exhibitions have been organised so that we can share more details about the Century Park proposals. Officers from the project team will be on hand to receive any suggestions or questions that people may have before the planning application is submitted in the summer."
For anyone unable to attend any of the public exhibitions, the proposals will also be on display as follows:
Venue: Hart House Business Centre, Kimpton Road, Luton LU2 0LA
Times: Weekdays from 9am-4.30pm
Dates: Thursday 30 March to Wednesday 10 May
Please note that this display is for viewing only and staff at the business centre will not be able to answer questions about the proposals.
All of the material shown at the exhibitions, and an opportunity to provide feedback until Wednesday 10 May, will also be available on the project website which can be found here.
Cllr Malcolm added: “LLAL is committed to improving the public open space available in the area to local residents, and to ensuring that there is the least possible disruption to airport operations, businesses and local residents as this key development is brought forward.
“I would like to thank those businesses and residents in the immediate area who have already begun providing their input into the proposals and welcome feedback from the wider community.”
